Local judgement

How we plan an outing here

The outing combines travel across the reservoir on an XXL paddle board with an equipped wall route. Water is part of the logistics, so wind, reservoir conditions and group coordination matter as much as vertical progression.

The commercial product follows the intermediate variant and excludes the extreme K6 line. Bookings are not accepted from 1 January through 30 June under the published statutory closure.

Reservoir and wall character

Cortes de Pallas combines XXL paddle-board travel on the reservoir with an intermediate via ferrata. Water and wall form one setting: wind, reservoir conditions, heat and coordination matter as much as vertical progression.

It suits participants seeking that water element and an intermediate objective. A land-access area may be more direct for gradual introduction. The extreme K6 itinerary is expressly outside this product.

Intermediate describes the complete outing, not only moves on the equipped route. The group must coordinate during water access and retain attention and energy for the vertical section. This continuity distinguishes Cortes from a conventional land-access via ferrata.

Destination choice depends on which element matters. If the reservoir is central, changing date can preserve the experience; if water is the constraint, another via ferrata may better serve the vertical objective.

Suitability and season

Water access requires coordination and gives reservoir conditions, wind and temperature particular weight in destination selection. July and August are conditional only, requiring an early start and safe conditions.

September through December is recommended. Dates outside closure still require checks of wind, heat, reservoir and profile. When the combination does not fit, changing date may preserve the distinctive Cortes experience.

Access and regulation

Bookings are not accepted from 1 January through 30 June under the published statutory closure. A favourable forecast or group availability creates no exception.

Being outside closure allows assessment, not automatic confirmation. If water, wind, access or conditions prevent the outing, another via ferrata needs its own review; K6 cannot be added or substituted for the intermediate variant.

Questions before choosing the area

Can I book between January and June?

No. The statutory closure applies from 1 January through 30 June and overrides even a favourable-looking forecast.

What distinguishes Cortes from another via ferrata?

The product combines the reservoir, XXL paddle-board access and an intermediate via ferrata. Water, wind and group coordination therefore carry particular weight in destination choice.

When would another area be preferable?

A via ferrata without water access may better suit beginners or dates when wind, reservoir conditions or the calendar limit Cortes. Every alternative is assessed separately.

How should July and August be understood?

They are conditional months, considered only with an early start and safe conditions. Being outside the statutory closure does not guarantee suitable heat, wind or water conditions.

Does it include K6, or can K6 be added?

No. The commercial outing follows only the intermediate variant and includes XXL paddle-board access. K6 is a different objective outside this product.

Why is September through December recommended?

Current guidance recommends those months for this outing. Each date still requires checks of wind, heat, reservoir conditions and group fit.
